Call for Nominations to Parkinson Association of Alberta Board of Directors (two-year term)


Parkinson Association of Alberta’s (PAA) Nominating Committee is calling for nominations of candidates for the PAA Board of Directors for four (4) new Directors.  All Directors will be elected for a two (2) year term (May 20, 2020 AGM – AGM 2022). 


Our Mission:

Parkinson Association of Alberta is the voice of Albertans and their families living with Parkinson disease.  Our purpose is to ease the burden through advocacy, education, client services and to support research aimed at finding a cure.


What We Need:

The association is looking for volunteers who represent geographic perspectives in Alberta, who will demonstrate excellence in their field of expertise and who will bring a mix of leadership skills, care and vision critical to due diligence and good governance.  Emphasis will be on recruitment of candidates who have the time, interest in a health charity and experience to make a significant impact on the long-term performance of Parkinson Association of Alberta.  


The Board Governance Committee has reviewed the current board composition and has determined the following additional skills and attributes will be required to carry out its mandate:

  • Financial Management;
  • Fundraising;
  • Government Relations/Policy Design;
  • Research/Neurological Research;
  • Human Resources;
  • Financial Expertise/Accounting
  • Technology/IT


Time Commitment & Involvement:

  • $25 membership fee per annum
  • 4-6 in-person or teleconference meetings
  • Participation on one (1) Board Committee

Parkinson Association of Alberta 2020 Annual General Meeting


The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of members of Parkinson Association of Alberta, due to the current COVID-19 situation and with approval from provincial and federal regulating bodies, is on temporary hold.  With the ongoing COVID-19 situation in mind, the Board and Staff are currently looking into alternatives and options for this annual event.  We will keep you posted here on the website, in our weekly E-Updates and via our social media platforms.
