Get Connected, Stay Connected

Parkinson Association of Alberta is committed to ensuring no Albertan has to face a Parkinson disease diagnosis alone.  Recognizing that not everyone lives within reach of one of our Offices or Regions, Parkinson Association of Alberta offers a variety of ways to get engaged and get the help and support you need to live better with Parkinson disease.

This support option is a free, easy, and confidential way for anyone affected by Parkinson disease and other similar disorders (including care partners, family members and health care professionals) to receive information and support.  Whether it is providing information, answering questions, or simply listening, we are here for you.

Attend a support group from the comfort of your own home via one of our three (3) monthly tele-support groups.  In partnership with the ARTA Charitable Foundation, these support groups take place over the phone using a teleconference system.  You will be able to interact with others in Alberta who live with Parkinson disease, Parkinson's Plus Syndromes, and/or other care partners, ask questions, discuss issues and 'meet' others who understand what it is like to live with or be affected by these neurological disorders.

This unique online feature gives you the opportunity to ask medical questions about the day-to-day management of Parkinson disease.  Our team of experts in neurology, neurosurgery, nursing and physiotherapy will respond.  Be sure to visit the "View Answers" section to browse other questions and answers.

Parkinson Association of Alberta is proud to partner with the National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) to help people with Parkinson disease get the best care possible during a hospital stay.  With more frequent visits and a high sensitivity to the timing and dosing of Parkinson's medications, people with Parkinson disease face greater risks in the hospital.

Fundraising and donations are essential to our organization, accounting for more than 86% of our annual revenues.  By making a donation, participating in or hosting a fundraising event, you are helping to make a difference in the lives of Albertans living with and affected by Parkinson disease.

Regardless of where you live in the province; Parkinson Association of Alberta has opportunities for you to get involved and help raise awareness and/or funds.
