Times are Changing in the Parkinson World

Covid-19 is not the only thing changing in the Parkinson community.

Both Parkinson Association of Alberta and Parkinson Canada have new chief executive officers and we are looking forward to a positive and meaningful shared direction as we continue to work hard in support of people with Parkinson’s.

In mid-March, former CEO, John Petryshen, made the decision to leave PAA to pursue other opportunities.  We wish him well and thank him for his contributions to our organization.  On May 28, 2020 the board of directors of Parkinson Association of Alberta offered the role of chief executive officer to Lana Tordoff.  Lana accepted this challenge.  She has been acting as the acting CEO since late October, 2019.

With a background in marketing, fund development, management and communications Lana Tordoff holds a Chartered Marketer Designation from the Canadian Marketing Association and brings strong communication and management skills to Parkinson Association of Alberta.  Her skills were formed working in the newspaper business where she developed creative models for the delivery of online advertising and developed creative education and training models while managing inventory, budgets, implemented and managed campaigns for the Edmonton Journal.

Lana took on a number of assignments where she grew sales in market and promoted business growth for many organizations.  For over a decade she has acted as a Marketing and Communications Consultant for numerous organizations including key work in the fields of development of strategic planning and project management.  Her management experience grew when she managed TCN, The Look Company, including through the challenges of closing a local office and warehouse.

Lana’s management experience grew in the not for profit sector where she served the Boys & Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area Society as Marketing and Communications Manager.  Key skills that Lana developed included relationship development and management, substantial fund development work as well as advocacy with Government as well as corporate and community stakeholders.  Lana also directly worked on the development of the strategic direction for the organization as well as the associated business planning.

Lana invites you to connect with her directly at ltordoff@parkinsonassociation.ca.  To learn about the new CEO at Parkinson Canada, Karen Lee, her bio can be found here.
