Support those we love this Season of Giving

Every year, more than 10,000 people in Alberta and beyond reach out to Parkinson Association of Alberta (PAA) for help, hope, and understanding. They come to us looking for answers — but what they find is something even more meaningful: a community that truly cares.

More than 70% of our annual operating budget comes directly from people like you — our members, donors, and event participants. You are the reason we can be there when someone like Ron Davidson of Lloydminster needs us most.

When Ron was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s, he didn’t think much would change. But as the disease progressed, life became more challenging — and lonelier. Living on his own, he began to feel isolated. Then a friend told him about PAA.

“I connected, and immediately felt like I’d found my people,” Ron shared. “It was like joining a family — everyone was living a similar life, and I wasn’t alone anymore.”

Ron joined support groups, attended programs, and took part in Thinking, Memory & Concentration (TMC) — three times so far — finding new strength and purpose each time. He also looks forward every year to Step ’n Stride (SNS), his favourite event for the social connections he’s built through PAA.

But what means the most to him is the personal support he receives from our team:

“I know the staff are busy, but they always make time for me. They’re cheerful, they help with everything — even things not directly related to Parkinson’s — and they never judge. PAA feels like my big brother or my mom, always watching out for me.”

Ron’s words remind us why your support matters. PAA is often the first — and sometimes only — lifeline for people navigating Parkinson’s in Alberta’s cities, towns, and rural communities. Whether it’s providing education, emotional support, or programs that help people stay active and connected, your generosity keeps that lifeline strong.

As Ron puts it best:

"You never know what life will spring on you. Keep the flame going by supporting others, because Parkinson's can get you anytime - and even if you don't get it, someone you love may."

This season, we invite you to renew your commitment to ensuring no Albertan faces Parkinson’s alone. Your donation sustains vital programs, expert guidance, and the comforting sense of family that PAA provides every day.

Please give today — and help keep that flame of connection, compassion, and care burning bright for people like Ron.

With heartfelt thanks,

Lana Tordoff
