Join us for our 11th annual Parkinson Step ‘n Stride across Alberta!
About the event
Parkinson Step ‘n Stride is our largest fundraiser of the year and accounts for over 20% of our annual budget. Parkinson Step ‘n Stride is for everybody! These are all-ages events, with activities for everyone. Registering for an event does not mean you have to come out and walk with us; we’d love to have you come and cheer us on, and enjoy the fun, fellowship and food.
We walk at Step ‘n Stride to help raise awareness of Parkinson disease and Parkinson Plus Syndromes, which affects more than 1 in 500 people across Canada, and more than 15,000 Albertans.

Volunteer Positions:
Event Set-up
Set up banners/signage, set up registration/volunteer areas, food and beverage areas, place route markers on the course and assist the staff with equipment arrangement (tables/chairs etc). Volunteers need to be comfortable with physical labour and lifting heavier objects!
First Aid
Be onsight for our out door Parkinson Step ‘n Stride, to provide standard first aid treatment for injuries not considered serious, which may include cleaning injured areas and applying antiseptic, salves, ointments, or bandages.
Registration/Check In
This is where all teams/individuals must first stop so they can confirm their arrival and drop off their offline pledges. This is also the first stop for spectators wishing to register. Volunteers at this area must be excellent communicators, organized and energized to greet our teams and spectators!
Parking/Access Patrol
Assist with directing vendors to designated event areas and ensure all vehicles using event areas are obeying the rules of the pathways. You will have a list to check off names using event list provided. You will need access patrol in front and behind the vehicles on pathways. Blinkers on and do not exceed 5 to 10km
Kids Zone
Lots of fun! There are lawn games to play. Help engage our children and youth in this space!
Food and Beverage
This is where the gathering happens! Assist our food and beverages sponsor with keeping the park as clean as we found it.
Route Marshals
The Route Marshals will be stationed at the start/finish lines and 1km, 3km and 5km turn-around points to help with directing teams, ensuring the safety of all participants and cheering them on!
Event Takedown
Help clean up our event site and take down banners/signage, tables and chairs, registration/incentive areas, food and beverage area, removing garbage and route markers. We need volunteers who can lift heavier objects and are not afraid to get their hands dirty
