SOCIAL SERVICES & EXERCISE ASSISTANT 2 (Full Time / Temporary in Edmonton)

FULL TIME / TEMPORARY (SEASONAL)

LOCATION:  EDMONTON, ALBERTA, CANADA

$20.00 PER HOUR / 35.0 HOURS PER WEEK

CONTRACT LENGTH: 8 WEEKS. Start July 2 to August 27, 2026

Made possible by funding from Canada Summer Jobs Program, this position will see the successful applicant(s) work with the Parkinson Association of Alberta Client Services team to help coordinate and execute our programs and services for people living with and affected by Parkinson disease and Atypical Parkinsonism.

Working out of our Edmonton office, the successful candidate(s) will work with and report to PAA’s Operations Manager.  They will learn and grow skills in group fitness, assessments, planning, organization, communications, budgets, interpersonal relationships, and client and stakeholder engagement.   They will assist with active programming (including online and in-person group fitness), make telephone calls, attend regular in-person and online meetings, create informational documents, and other tasks as required to assist the Client Services Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the lead on some active programming options (including but not limited to in-person and online group fitness sessions, speech/voice sessions, etc)
    • Multitasking to ensure that all session participants have a high-quality experience
  • Assist Client Services Team with bi-annual touchbase calls to clients
  • Assist Client Services Team with data management (data entry, filing, scanning, etc)
  • Research/write new and re-format existing informational documents
  • Assist with the development of 2027 programming (including, but not limited to timing, budget creation, etc)
  • Coordinate and drop off information and resources to community stakeholders (including, but not limited to Drs offices, health clinics, PCNs, etc)
  • Attend bi-monthly Client Services Team meetings and weekly staff meetings

Requirements:

  • Ability to meet the requirement of the Canada Summer Jobs program (must be between 15-30 years of age), and have Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Refugee status
  • Currently enrolled in or completion of post-secondary education in Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, Personal Fitness Trainer, or similar
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (will reimburse)
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional proficiency in technology (including, but not limited to Excel, Word, Sharepoint, and Teams.) 
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends as required to support program offerings.
  • Must have own vehicle (will be reimbursed for related expenses)
  • First Aid/CPR accreditation will be considered an asset
