Dysphagia: The Experience of People with Parkinson’s Disease

In this study, we aim to understand the lived experience of people with Parkinson’s Disease with swallowing difficulty and swallowing therapy. We also plan to understand their perspective on using digital technology that helps in receiving swallowing therapy and explore their needs and considerations as users.

Who is eligible to participate in the study?

  • 18 years or older.
  • Living in Canada.
  • Diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.
  • Have a history of swallowing difficulties.
  • This study does not cover Parkinson-plus syndromes: Progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), Multiple system atrophy (MSA), Cortical-basal ganglionic degeneration (CBGD), Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB).
  • This study does not cover people with Parkinson’s Disease who have dementia or severe cognitive impairment

What is required of the participants?

We are looking for people to share their experience by taking part in an online interview.
