The University of Alberta is looking for volunteers to participate in a research study to learn more about the lived experiences of people with Parkinson disease (PD) or their spouses/caregivers in care facilities or supportive living residences. The research will also examine the prevalence of those with a dual diagnosis of PD and Diabetes. The research objectives include examining cognition with PD, comorbidities (ex. diabetes) and physical functioning through the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI-MDS).

Who is eligible to participate in the study?
- People with PD or their spouses/caregivers residing in care facilities (long-term care or supportive living residences)
OR
- People with dual diagnosis of PD and Diabetes in care facilities or their spouses/caregivers
- Care partners of loved ones with PD and/or Diabetes that resided in a care facility
- Alberta residents only
- No restrictions on age or gender
What is required of the participants?
- The study requires 3 or 4 virtual interviews of 60-90 minutes in length to allow people with PD or their spouses/caregivers to share their lived experiences in care facilities, including long-term care residences and supportive living
- One participant from the study will co-create the manuscript detailing the outcomes of the research
