Understanding Pain in Parkinson’s Disease

Do you have Parkinson disease and PAIN?  The University of Calgary is looking for volunteers to take part in a study examining how different types of pain affect individuals with Parkinson disease and their spouse/care partner.  Recognizing the correct type of pain that affects an individual is important.  It can help to understand the disease and provide information about the right treatments for each individual.

Who is eligible to participate in the study?

You are eligible to participate in this study if you meet all of the following criteria:

  • You have clinically established Parkinson disease
  • You experience pain due to having Parkinson disease

What is required of the participants?

Your participation will involve:

  • a one (1) time visit (90 minutes) with your spouse/care partner at the Foothills Hospital Movement Disorders Clinic in Calgary.
  • answering some questionnaires
  • a neurological examination done by Dr. Bruno
  • compensation for parking and transportation expenses
